  • The goal and objective of Hope Education Foundation (HEF) is to provide opportunities for interaction between Americans and Chinese in the fields of education and the arts in order to promote understanding and awareness through direct face-to-face encounters.

  • In order to accomplish this goal, the ability to successfully communicate in Mandarin Chinese becomes critical. As a result, the mission of this grant is to help mainstream, K-12 schools provide their students the opportunity to learn Mandarin Chinese using state of the art teaching methodology and computer technology.

  • HEF is promoting the easy, enjoyable and effective way to learn Chinese.
 

The Type-To-Learn Chinese Methodology by IQChinese

  • Easy: Requires only basic computer and keyboard. Program will actually pronounce authentic Mandarin Chinese.

  • Practical: Learn to Read, Write, Speak, and Type all in one program.

  • Complete: Spiral curriculum follows the 5 C”¦s of the Foreign Language Education Standard, from beginner to advanced, with printable assessments and reports.

  • Effective: Begin to communicate in Chinese immediately, including online.

1.”@ Submit completed application by April 30, 2008.
2.”@ Open to any U.S. public or charter K-12 school.
3.”@ Your school must be ready to fully implement the Chinese program with Chinese teachers no later than Fall, 2008.
4.”@ There must be at least 20 computers available at one time for use in this program.

Grants will be awarded to only one school per state. Selected recipients will be notified by May 15, 2008. You can download the application form at HEP and IQChinese website.
1.”@ Provide a site license equipping up to 30 computers one set each of Go100-800 and Pinyin.
2.”@ Provide up to 100 students one volume each of IQChinese courseware to match individual ability levels.
3.”@ Provide 3 free accounts for on-line teacher training
4.”@ Provide one Master Copy CD of teaching resources with teacher”¦s guide and supplemental material.
1.”@ Teacher(s) must take on-line training courses to learn the type-to-learn Chinese methodology.
2.”@ Contact local media and arrange press release prepared by HEF regarding grant project.
3.”@ Complete a first semester evaluation.
4.”@ Release the rights to the results of the evaluation for research and promotion purposes.
